The festival offers a line-up of activities that includes <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">demoni<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> mask and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ximbomba<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (friction drum) workshops, guided tours and exhibitions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sa Revetla de Sant Antoni<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (the eve of the Feast of Saint Anthony) is celebrated on 16 January, where the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quintos<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (a group of the town\u2019s 18-year-olds) accompany the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dimoni Feliu <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tentaciones<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (a retinue of people that represent the temptations of Saint Anthony) to look for Sant Antoni. Joined by other <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">demonis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and music, they parade to the Pla\u00e7a de la Vila, where the group of child <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">demonis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> perform the first <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">correfoc<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (literally \u201cfire runs\u201d, these are traditional parades that feature <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">demonis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> lighting off fireworks) and light the bonfire, or <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">foguer\u00f3<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in the square, which will be used to light the other bonfires across the town. The main event, the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dimonis de Factoria de So<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">correfoc<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that starts later and features <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">demonis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from other towns as well as musical performances.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">torrada<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (toast) topped with traditional Majorcan sausage is typically eaten for dinner on this night, served up in the Pla\u00e7a de la Vila, at different dinners put on by local associations and by the residents themselves. Performed in the town square, it draws from a different fable every year, following a theme of discussion or interest related to that year\u2019s performance. without a doubt, the most eagerly awaited moment of the summer by the people of Santa Maria.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most traditional event, marking the start of the festivities, is the hoisting of the town\u2019s crimson flag on the bell tower of the main church, which is accompanied by fireworks and the pealing of the bells.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">colles<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are a central feature of the patron saint\u2019s festivities. These are different groups of local residents who compete in a series of competitions to win the Juegos Populares (traditional games). Traditionally, the winning <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">colla<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the previous year is responsible for reading the proclamation on the day of the flag-raising. The groups have to complete a series of tests over the course of the month, such as a lip-sync performance and a costume parade (Carnaval d\u2019estiu), a photography test, the decoration of the town, etc. On the day of the Popular Games, the groups gather in the Pla\u00e7a Hostals, where a water fight takes place. Later, the groups parade to the Pla\u00e7a Nova, where the games begin; this is a variety of traditional and popular events, including tug of war, sack races, horseshoe throwing, jumping rope and climbing a soaped pole to finish off the Juegos. The festivities end with a dinner in the street and a night of music.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The people of the town traditionally hang crimson banners with the town\u2019s coat of arms on their balconies. There\u2019s also fun for the youngest members of the family, who can enjoy activities like the Grand Prix, the bicycle decorating workshop and the decorated bike rally, musical performances, the night-time kids\u2019 sports meet, the kids\u2019 water party, film screenings, etc. The traditional <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Corregudes de Joies<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> horse races are also a major part of the festivities.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For sports fans, there are several seminars, exhibitions, a night-time bike ride, tournaments, open-air classes, etc. Art lovers can enjoy different exhibitions, the evening of poetry in the vineyard, theatrical performances, etc. And if music and dancing are your thing, the celebrations have something for you: concerts, the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">batucada<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (drum performances), the open-air dances, a parade with the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">xeremiers<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (drummers) of Santa Maria del Cam\u00ed and a concert put on by the local band are all included in the line-up.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pelat a la fresca<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (outdoor lunch) and our <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">gegants<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> aren\u2019t to be missed, nor are the Tremponada Popular, when the town\u2019s different organisations and associations prepare <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tremp\u00f3<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (a summer salad of tomatoes, onions, and Majorcan green bell peppers) for dinner; and the Sopar a la Fresca, where the neighbours set up tables in the street and have dinner together. 400;\">gegants<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> go to Son Lla\u00fct to cut down pine branches, using them to decorate the town in celebration of the arrival of the new vintage.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the Insignia de Brot de Pi award ceremony, the wineries and the Town Council present the insignia to individuals and organisations in recognition of their contribution to the world of wine and their efforts to promote it.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The wineries present the new wine to the town in a formal ceremony steeped in symbolism. They also open their doors to anyone who wants to learn more about their products.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The festival\u2019s big day is the last Saturday in November and is celebrated in the Pla\u00e7a Nova. the town\u2019s iconic venues at the same time.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The courtyard of Son Biel\u00f3, the Pota del Rei en Jaume, Pla\u00e7a Bartomeu Horrach and the cloister of the Convent dels M\u00ednims are just some of the venues that combine heritage with shows featuring different styles of music.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Organised by the Santa Maria Town Hall in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Heritage and Linguistic Policy of the Majorcan Council, this series of concerts is held every year and has become a well-established,
